There is a sad legend about Goshikihama Beach in the Heian period. After being defeated in the Battle of Yashima, five princesses from the Heike clan washed ashore on this beach, but in despair they threw themselves into the sea and turned into five-colored stones.

In commemoration of this legend, the Goshikihime Easter Festival is held every year on the fourth Sunday in March. On the day, there is an exciting parade of Goshikihime and women carrying a mikoshi. There will also be giveaways of wish stones, and a special sale for the Goshikihime Easter Festival in the shopping district.
