JR Shimonada Station: A photogenic unmanned station that you'll want to get off at at least once.

Photogenic Station
Until the national highway running in front of it was completed, this unmanned station was the closest station to the sea in Japan. It was so close that the waves lapped right below the platform, and there are stories of people enjoying fishing from the platform.
The flower garden within the station grounds features sunflowers in the summer and cosmos in the autumn, and beautiful seasonal flowers are planted in planters, warmly welcoming visitors. The flower garden is lovingly tended by members of the local senior citizens' association.
The old three-legged shelter, the benches the same blue as the sea, the Iyo Sea stretching out before you, and the sunset sinking into it – everything about this station is photogenic.
Sunset Platform Concert
Every year on the first Saturday of September, a "Sunset Platform Concert" is held on the platform, with the Iyo Sea and the setting sun as the backdrop. This popular event celebrated its 38th anniversary in 2023.
The concert, held at the beautiful location of Shimonada Station at sunset, is so popular that it's considered a "must-perform concert" for amateur musicians from within and outside the prefecture. Since 2020, the concert has been live-streamed nationwide for free. We deliver a special time where scenery and music blend together.
Temporary Parking Information
JR Shimonada Station, a nationally famous tourist spot, can experience significant traffic congestion on the surrounding roads due to station users and tourists. Especially on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, many people use the temporary parking lot, and navigating the narrow old roads can be difficult.
Therefore, we ask for your cooperation in following the route shown in the diagram below when using the temporary parking lot. If the temporary parking lot is full, please use the "Shimonada Sports Park parking lot" located 1 km west of the station.
*Please note that parking may not be available at Shimonada Sports Park depending on the facility's usage status on the day of your visit. Special Video: "Kensho Ono's Romantic Trip to Iyo"
Popular voice actor Kensho Ono, who serves as the Iyo City Hometown Tourism Ambassador, is featured in a video series called "Kensho Ono's Romantic Trip to Iyo," which is currently available on YouTube! In "Part 2: Enjoying Iyo City," Kensho Ono actually visits and introduces "JR Shimonada Station," so please be sure to check it out.
JR Shimonada Station is located in Futami Town, known as "the town where the setting sun lingers," and is a popular and photogenic unmanned station. Many celebrities have visited, and it frequently appears in movies, dramas, magazines, and commercials. It consistently ranks high in nationwide rankings of unmanned stations that people want to visit at least once.
On a sunny day, a dazzling world of blue, where the blue of the sky and the blue of the sea intertwine, stretches as far as the eye can see. In the evening, everything is dyed orange by the beautiful sunset. What's most recommended is the magic hour before and after sunset. The view of the Iyo Sea, changing from orange to purple and then to deep blue, is beyond words.
There aren't any shops or flashy leisure spots, but precisely because there's nothing there, you can forget about time and simply enjoy the scenery... You can truly experience the ultimate relaxation.
